A Walk along Ninglinspo
A recent trip to friends’ in Bruxelles took us down to just south of Liège for a walk in the Ardennes. Details of the trip (including a map!) can be found on Mike Padgett’s site in an entry called Ninglinspo — he’s got a lot more interesting walks listed!

An Early Start!
After an early start to drive south, we started the 13km walk in good spirits!

A glove tried to hitch a lift right at the start, but we were having none of it!

Someone will have Cold Hands
The Ninglinspo is a little stream, that probably turns into a torrent when it has rained more!

Waterfalls
Throughout this part of the walk there is a constant accompaniment of babbling brook as water cascades off rocks.

And to help you get from one side of the stream to the other, simple bridges (that would no doubt not be allowed in the UK for H&S reasons!) are placed in convenient locations.

The waterfalls are many and some flow at an alarming rate!

Now, some of the bridges across the water were missing handrails…this causing just a little consternation in J (as another approaches!).

Mike, like a mountain goat, strode across like it was motorway width!

While J has a more ‘careful’ approach.

Stand...when I can SIT???
But the prospect of being washed downstream isn’t very appealing!

Bit of as Drop!
After a steady climb up the river valley, we found a lovely place to stop for lunch…what a view!

OMG how stunning out there!!! It’s like Yosemite in Europe 😉
Does the Belgian Ardennes beckon you for 2012 Mr 8ch?? I wouldn’t mind revisiting Solwaster, or Warche and Warenne, this coming spring time… or maybe somewhere new in France, Luxembourg or the Netherlands with a possible hostel/B&B kipover… Let us know and we’ll see what we can come up with as a photographic tour
Happy New Year for 2012!
